SHUTTER SPEED SELECTION DIAL

This dial has engraved numbers on it, and the standard range of these numbers are 1,000, 500, 250, 125, 60, 30, 15, 8, 4, 2, and 1. These numbers are the speed setting for how long your camera will allow the light to strike the film. The numbers represent fractions of a second, so 1,000 is actually 1/1,000 of a second and so on down to 1. If you remember your math, 1 over 1 is equal to 1. So basically it's 1 second.
